Vanishing Breed

Vanishing Breed

The man behind the solo project Vanishing Breed is Alexander J. Holmes who has grown up in London. There he learned to play the guitar in West African ways from his neighbour, the Hi-Life guitarist Folo Graff. This peculiar rhythmical guitar style has become his musical trademark since then. Before moving to Berlin for a long temporary while he was a founding member of the kamikaze-fusion-ensemble "They Came From The Stars, I Saw Them". In 2003 Vanishing Breed released his debut, a much beloved vinyl single on the label Static Caravan, scoring the four seasons (very different from Vivaldi). In the same year he played a tour together with Jim Avignon which also brought him to Lueneburg where he caught our attention as new labelmakers. When two years later we got his readily mastered album demo in our hands, including fantastic artwork, we could just not believe our luck.

We immediately released "Between Arrival And Departure". A.J. Holmes brought his second record to the world under his real name, entitled "The King Of The New Electric Hi-Life". Furthermore we have a beautiful non-brass piece by Vanishing Breed on Pingipung blows: the Brass.
