Sven Kacirek travelled Kenya with many microphones, this was a brilliant idea! On "The Kenya Sessions", we hear musicians with whom he recorded in Kenyan villages blended with his own instruments (percussion, marimba, piano) played in the studio back in Hamburg. Sven presents us a melancholic joyride in 15 acts, all held together by the quality of the original recordings and Sven's instrumental and producer skills. We witness cinematic moments when he is welcomed by drumming village people who then abruptly start to pray. The rhythm of the prayer marks the beginning of the track "Dear Anastasia" in which the 80 y/o Ogoya Nengo sings the lead voice. Sven's sensitivity for silent sounds (which wowed us already on his "Palmin Sessions") is taken to another level in this cooperation with Kenyan musicians. Catch this ride! CD and 2LP.
