Pingipung releases electronic music since 2002, rather for a living room than for the dancefloor.
Our label history begins like the one of many little record companies: As our music would not fit into any scheme and therefore not onto any existing label, we simply released it on our own.
We are Nils Dittbrenner, Markus Engel, Heiko Gogolin and Andreas Otto, and we met studying Applied Cultural Sciences in Lueneburg, a picturesque town in Northern Germany, where we found our mutual love for Electronica music.
Pingipung kicks off with a tiny yellow vinyl single, quickly joined by Maxis, albums and instrument-oriented compilations. The artist family grows, and the local artists are soon followed by musicians from Hamburg, Austria, Sweden and UK. Electronica is followed by Chiptunes, Brass music, Hi-Life Guitars, and Chanson Dub. With all diversity in style, the artists are unified in their love for musical crankiness, complexity and playfulness, which we adore. Meanwhile we have moved to Hamburg, but still we run Pingipung out of passion for good music, and not with an all-too strong focus on economic efficiency. Long live the enterprise!
Pingipung music appears in various formats from vinyl single to digital download. Kompakt and A-Musik put our records into the store, worldwide; Morr Music takes care of our online availability.
